Coyote Cup – Power Rankings

Coyote Cup

The ’11-’12 season is the inaugural season for the Coyote Cup, which is a season long Player of the Year Race. Throughout the year each member of the team will be awarded points for their performance based on practice, qualifying, and tournaments.  Below is the break down for points awarded throughout the season.

In addition to the Coyote Cup Rank is a Beaver Golf Power Rating.  Consistent with the Coyote Cup is the idea that everything the Beavers do is about competition.  The Power Rating was created by Coach Reehoorn to place an importance on every round played whether it be qualifying, tournament, or just a practice round at one of their home facilities.  Each round played is entered into a computer program which then ranks the players based on their head to head (Win – Loss) and stroke differential against each of the other 9 individuals on the team.  It is very similar to what you would see with the Golfweek Sagarin Rankings, which rank the teams based on their performance in each event.
