2012 Spring Season Underway

On Saturday we will make our annual trek to the Big Island to begin our spring season at the Amer Ari Waikoloa Collegiate.  We’ve got our work cut out for us to begin the season as a recent GolfWorld article ranked the event as the 2nd toughest (strength of schedule) event this Spring.

It has been an interesting start to the Spring season as Mother Nature hasn’t always been on our side.  During the days she has had other ideas for our practice we have been taking advantage of the indoor facility the team has access to to work on their game.

During our work outside we have been using the Flightscope to really dial in the wedge yardages for each player and on Thursday afternoon we used it to help Davd Fink find a new driver.

Our first full week of practice ended with a team mini-retreat on Sunday morning.  Each member of the team had to give a presentation on an assigned John Wooden Leadership Principle.  Matt Rawitzer spoke about ‘Emotion is Your Enemy’ while dressed as Joe Montana in preparation for the 49ers NFC Championship game.

Hopefully Matt was able to remember to keep his emotions in check while Kyle Williams was having a day he will ever forget.  As a Seahawks fan I’m ecstatic the 49ers lost.  Most importantly though it means we don’t have to hear Matt talk about the Super Bowl all week in Hawaii!  Matt and Nick Chianello will resume qualifying today at Spring Hill CC for the 5th and final spot in the lineup.  2nd place will be playing as an individual.
