The Beaver golf team will have to wait 12 more days to open their ’11-’12 season as Mother Nature had different plans for the Kikkor Golf Husky Invite. With more than an inch of rain in a 24 hour period, Gold Mountain was just too wet and unplayable.
Six of the 16 teams entered in the event played a one-day 18-hole event on Tuesday, but Coach Reehoorn decided it was in the best interest of the Beavers to withdraw from the event and wait until the Prestige @ PGA West to begin the season. When asked about his decision Coach Reehoorn said this would allow the team to add another event in the Spring and begin the season at PGA West in the sun. It is uncertain at this time which event the Beavers will add to their schedule.
On Tuesday Coach announced that the same five that scheduled to represent the Beavers in Bremerton will have the opportunity to begin the season together in Palm Desert. “These guys earned the right to represent our team in the first event of the season thru a 90 hole qualifier, and I don’t really see how I can take that from them,” said Coach Reehoorn.
