Regionals, All Pac-10 & Shot #275

On Monday the NCAA announced the selections for the 2011 Golf Championships and we also received word that Alex Moore had been selected as a 1st Team All-Pac-10 honoree.  The team was selected as the #8 seed in the Tucson Regional.  In the 14 team field, which features former OSU head coach Brian Watts and the Army Black Knights, we will need to finish in the top 5 to advance to the NCAA Championships.  Our goal from the beginning of the year was to reach a 2nd consecutive NCAA Championship, which has never been done in the history of OSU golf, and we are right there.  We depart for Tucson on Tuesday, May 17.

Just minutes before learning we were headed to Tucson it was announced that Alex Moore had been selected by the coaches of the Pac-10 Conference as a 1st Team All-Conference selection.  With a season scoring average of 70.94, the second best in school history, Alex becomes just the 5th Beaver to receive 1st Team All-Pac-10 Conference selection.  Alex’s par putt on the 72nd hole (below), shot #275 for the week, also tied Tim Mickelson’s(2000, -13 @Arizona State) school record for the low four round total.
