Round 1 of the Duck Invitational got off to a slow start for the team as we posted a 10 over-par score of 298. The course played pretty long all day as we saw cool temperatures with the occasional shower, and we just weren’t able to get anything going early on. We knew we were capable of much better in the second round and the guys did a great job of getting off to a better start in the afternoon.
The story of the second round was Alex Moore. Alex started the second round 7 under through his first 11 holes. He then hit a minor road block with bogeys at the 14th and 15th holes, but finished off his round with birdies on four of his last five holes. When all was said and done he posted a 9 under-par 63, which sets the record for lowest single round in OSU Golf history! His round included a sizzling 28 on the front nine! Individually, Alex will take a two shot lead into the final round tomorrow.
Overshadowed by Alex’s stellar round was Nick Sherwood’s great round of 69 in the afternoon. Nick made four birdies against only one bogey in the second round. Casey King was able to play a solid round as well, posting a one over-par 73. With our better play we were able to post the second lowest round of the afternoon (283,) moving us up to fourth place with one round to go.
